we went to beefest on saturday and we partied like teenagers. unfortunately the next day i recovered like a grandpa.

california dreamin

now i'm a sbtb fan like everyone else, but i loved that whole lineup on saturday mornings. saved by the bell, city guys...and california dreams. check this out...

its 3:55 am now. i have been awake since about 2am. telling myself, "but it's 6:55 pm in the philippines" is little consolation right now. i just wish i could sleep.

i'm not a big tv guy. truth be told, in my apartment, i have an old tv but i have no cable. if i want to watch something like a football game or the lakers, i'll head over to my folks.

anyways in ny, during downtime at the hotel room i caught some shows for the first time.

jersey shore of course is what everyone is talking bout. situps + salads + steroids = six pack=situation? yeah i'm a math guy so that makes sense to me.

also was watching for the love of ray j for the first time. i realize this isn't a new show. but i realized if i was on a dating show like this, i would be horrible. i would probably be kicked off the first day.

i don't think i'm a great first impressions guy. which sucks obviously b/c you only have that one chance to make a first impression. i think part of it is i'm the classic overthinker. you know paralysis by analysis? (like dawson in dawsons creek).

crap, dawsons creek reference at 4am. definitely, time to try to get some more sleep.

i saw this good quote by winston churchill in my information systems policy book.

"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. "

i thought this was pretty fitting with this economic time. i really hope people can take advantage of their situations even when they appear bleek. there's also a good article on the stress of surviving a layoff.

sorry i guess i'm just really sympathetic b/c it reminds me of when i was laid off when the whole dot com bubble burst.

check out this facebook article about fraud and hacked accounts. be careful people!

in other news, usc recruiting...te'o, you are dead to me.

great heroes episode! i think the show is back. ok i'll wait until the next episode before further judgement.

uninsured

thoughts on heroes so far? i've heard everything from thrilling to clusterf*ck when describing season 3. i'm still not sure what i think, but its still good tv and i'm still hooked.

got my new computer. its online. it was tough going that week without the internet at home! now is the toughie...restoring all my old files and programs.

i'm so used to automated bill payments. the only thing i didnt have automated was my car insurance and registration. turns out, i had forgotten to pay my car insurance for a month. i drove for a whole month uninsured! luckily i caught it but i had to change insurance companies. at least now its automated so i'll never have to go through that again. i hope.

(MyFantasyLeague.com Fantasy Times Sources - Oct 13, 2008) In a week 6 Pound 4 Pound rivalry, Brazilian Treasures beat a strong nerds team by a score of 73.1 to 60.1, extending the winning streak for Brazilian Treasures to 3 games.

Brazilian Treasures were led to their 13.0 point victory by a 21.8 point effort from Thomas Jones, who snuck past the Cincinnati Bengals defense for 65 rushing yards and 2 rushing tds in addition to 13 receiving yards. With this performance, Jones was the number 5 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 6. They also got help from a 14.8 point effort from Correll Buckhalter, who got by the San Francisco 49ers defense for 93 rushing yards and 1 rushing td in addition to 85 receiving yards.

"We're not going to rest on our laurels," Brazilian Treasures coach Michael L said.

nerds were helped out in a losing cause by a 15.7 point effort from Braylon Edwards, who beat the New York Giants defense for 154 receiving yards and 1 receiving td. With this performance, Edwards was the number 2 ranked wide receiver for week 6. They also got help from a 9.7 point effort from Sammy Morris, who snuck past the San Diego Chargers defense for 26 rushing yards and 1 rushing td in addition to 49 receiving yards.

"They stepped up and made the plays," nerds coach John Burgos said.

Causing further embarrassment, nerds could have scored 73.2 points and gotten the win with their best lineup, but John Burgos left key players like Donovan McNabb and his corresponding 15.8 points on the bench.

This brings the record for Brazilian Treasures to 4-2, and drops nerds to a record of 3-3.

heroes overload

did u watch heroes last night? if not you may want to stop reading now.

my thoughts:
-if i was a fat bald mexican dude with a mustache, for halloween i would just wear a white shirt and keep yelling, "i'm peter petrelli!".

-mohinder: normal guy. turns into spiderman. gets some. turns into the fly.

-nathan petrelli: doing his best benny hinn impersonation.

-sylar/claire: that thing was pretty weird. then weirder at the end when you realize that he's HER UNCLE.

all in all, i liked it. maya doesnt talk too much. not too much of that black girl with the muscle memory thing. looks like a promising start. i'm hooked again.

intervention

no heroes tonight

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
so this is the first week that the writers strike officially effects (or affects?) me. no heroes tonight. what am i looking forward to watching? currently i'm in "christmas special" mode. after that, the two shows that intrigue me most are american gladiators and celebrity apprentice. pretty sad huh?

just about a week and a half til i'm done with finals/projects. its been a truly grueling semester.
