one billion dollars

manny vs hatton signed! on may 2nd! i think manny wins via k.o.

just looking ahead at the next few months it'll be pretty brutal schedule wise.

pas marathon, bach party, wedding shower, wedding, graduation, work, finals...

sometimes during the hecticness, its good to just step back and just appreciate stuff. instead of letting the stress consume you. that's my goal at least.

superbowl coming up. not sure what to think of it. i think i'll watch b/c well...its the superbowl. but not too hyped up about it at all.

i heard a rhetorical question on the radio this morning:

would you take one billion dollars at 30 if you knew you would die in 20 years (so on your 50th bday)? all of the money (and things bought with that money) would dissapear when you died. so you couldn't give it away, buy someone a house, etc. it's like brewsters millions on steroids.

thoughts?

recession proof

i googled the term recession proof. its a buzz word that i've just heard alot lately. the first google hit? this piece written in 2002. its amazing how it still applies today.

its a tough and scary time. very reminiscent of when the bubble burst at the end of the dot com era. in a time like this i think of what suze orman (you know that financial lady on all the talk shows) says: people, money, then things. thats the priority. not money first.

as always, there will be light at the end of the tunnel. stay strong and good luck to everyone.

managing expectations

happy belated mlk. and happy belated obama inauguration.

i love this quote i read about obama and his love for basketball:
"with a consuming passion that would always exceed my limited talent."

so what are your expectations about the new president? i guess its up to obama himself to manage those expectations. i'm sure we can all relate, whether its at work or in a relationship, expectations must be managed or else well...someone will always fall short.

barack ball mix tape!

good luck mr. president. my expectations are tempered so i'm not expecting miracles. but i'm expecting solid decision making and someone to get us back on the right track.

tuition

i should have thought of this idea first instead of taking out some major loans to go back to grad school. on second thought, i probably wouldn't get bids in the millions but maybe i might get enough to buy myself a happy meal.

awesome trojan news (from earl):
"USC coach Pete Carroll said Monday that All-American safety Taylor Mays, cornerback Josh Pinkard and tailback C.J. Gable would return next season."

i'm ecstatic about mays and pinkard returning. not so sure what to think about gable. i think i would like to see what marc tyler could do back there but i guess it's nothing to complain about.

hey for all my married friends, did you guys go on the "engaged encounter" retreat? missi and i just got back. i don't think i've talked about so many feelings ever in my life.
