looking back on 08

goodbye 08. hello 09. as i work on a new years eve, the time ticks down slower than ever. i was looking back at the major accomplishments in 08. 07 was a huge year for me. engagement, grad school, marathon pr's. 08 didn't have those same kinds of personal achievements but was still a good year for me nonetheless.

i made my trip to india (and visited the taj mahal). and probably the biggest personal change was that i changed my job. (i won't mention things like getting a wii or 5 dollar foot longs even though we all know these are both historic events in a soon-to-be middle aged mans life).

what's on tap for 09? well it looks big on paper. the wedding. the pasadena marathon. graduation.

i just watched this video and it made me laugh. the trojans at lawrys. hope you all have a happy (and safe) new years! may you all have great 2009's!

fighter of the year.

jeff diwas, felix, and i were talking about iphone apps that would be profitable to be developed a few months back. kevin chimed in that, "what would be really cool would be to make the iphone turn into a mirror." this was quickly dismissed.

boy were we wrong. i've been running ALOT the past few days. but its not even making a dent. frickin holidays!
i'm working on xmas eve. i think for the first time on my life. its really not so bad.

the wii fit has been doing a great job of motivating me. i'm not sure how long i'll be able to maintain it. but signing up for the full pasadena marathon in march should provide ample motivation. (barring another unforeseen natural disaster)

another potential injury that we all need to prevent...wii knee. merry xmas everyone! hope you all get great presents.

bison

here's a recap on the last couple of things:
watched usc bball eek one out against north dakota state. the bison. demarr derozan was as advertised. he's almost too unselfish right now. dwight lewis and hackett are really going to have to step it up in pac 10 play if we want to finish .500 or better.

watched ted neeley in jesus christ superstar. i realize he must be over 50 by now but wow. this old mexican dude behind me said, "yeah i saw something like this on tv once. it was pretty stupid and had rock and roll and disco music and it was antireligion. what is this about?" and the lady he was with replied, "that is exactly what this is."

i got some of my xmas gifts from missi! the highlight is my wii fit. my bmi is 22.9. yikes i'm on the border of normal and overweight. frickin holidays!

holidays

one good thing about the holidays. all the food. but thats also the bad thing about the holidays. ugh...i need some willpower.

heroes is good right now. i think they'll rebound nicely in 09.

just 3 more classes til my one month break. i seriously can't wait. don't get me wrong, i'll still have work but just the time i'll free up without school. it will be nice.

baller.

tale of two mexicans

i'm relieved more than anything. we beat ucla.

buboy was right. the analysis of oscar de la hoya out of his closet was spot on. manny didn't let oscar set. oscar couldnt pull off any combos (not with any power at least). game over. i've seen some people say that they are proud to be filipino. just b/c of the fight? was there pride before?

but seriously. did anyone expect that outcome? maybe someone predicted a manny win but no way that decisive. what's next? I'm hoping for hatton. margarito is too big and floyds d is too tight. the filipinos vs the brits. they can both make fun of one anothers accents. it was very cool to go to lawrys with missi on sunday. they had just posted the pac 10 and big 10 banners in order of finish. so i took a cool picture of the psu and usc banners. and i had to rep usc by ordering the beef bowl cut. too. much. meat.

non partisan

i really try my best to observe sports not as a fan, but more as a non partisan observer. of course that goes out the window for two things: all things usc and manny p.

this sunday will tell the story. if i'm ecstatic, my two "home teams" will have emerged victorious. if i'm pissed off, there may be one (and hopefully not two) stinging losses. and if i'm hung over....well ok i might be hung over regardless.

its really hard to talk about the fight without emotions coming out. manny p fans will give u a million reasons why he will win. and odlh fans will do the same thing. we'll have to see on saturday.

in other news, the semester is winding down. finals coming up and then one more semester until i graduate for (hopefully) the last time ever!
