you know what work the day after thanksgiving feels like? it feels like back when you were n college at the library on a friday or saturday night: as much as you should be there and know you have important stuff to do, just knowing that other people are having more fun than you at that exact moment makes you feel totally unmotivated. thats me today. well a combination of that feeling and just really bloated.

hope you guys had excellent black fridays. (why does it gotta be black?)

fight on! beat the irish.

i finally saw tropic thunder on dvd (thanks blau!) since i'm perhaps the last person in the world to see it, i don't think anything i'll say is a spoiler (well if you haven't seen it, stop reading!)

anyhow, i thought the big 3 stole the show. no not jack black, ben stiller, and downey jr. i'm talking bill hader (btw, am i the only one who always gets him and will forte mixed up?), matthew mcconaughey, and tc. (will post this on youtube even though i know it'll be taken off a few hours later).

running a 5k this sunday at la canada. after signing up, i realized that the day before is the notre dame game. its just a 5k? maybe i'll just race it hung over.

happy thanksgivings everyone! for the first time ever, i'll be working the friday AFTER thanksgiving. ugh.

go-live

i just went live on a project i was managing this week. these things normally come prepackaged with a side of overtime and a heaping portion of stress. as i was on the phone with one of the integration engineers, he asked me, "don't you get excited about these go-lives?". and i thought about it. and yeah, i did.

its a long way from doing a keg stand. or a late night at chano's. or starting your very own fight club. or all of the above. but i think for the first time in...geez, forever....i find enjoyment doing work.

this is definitely a 180 for my opinion of work in the past. i thought of work as that 40 or so hours of time a week that you had to put in doing a certain thing just because you had to. you know, sorta like sleep. i guess work is an acquired taste. something that i've learned how to appreciate over the years...sorta like a hangover.

now i've learned that work is something you truly can get pumped up about. maybe not like a game winning 3 pointer with the time running down. but still something to get excited about and not dread.

who knew? i've heard of marathons in snowstorms, rainstorms and windstorms. but it happened...

i had a great week leading up to the race. got some great runs in and had ate well: primarily 5 dollar turkey subs at quiznos and subway along with salads.

of course that all went to hell the day before the marathon. i had carbo loaded with 2 full plates of pasta along with some pumpkin cheesecake and ice cream b/c i was about to run 26.2 miles the following morning to burn it off. alas, this meal would just sit in my stomach as i checked my email at 4am the day of the race to find out that the race would be cancelled (most likely postponed).

in the end, this is probably best for me. right now i feel like lendale white after thanksgiving when i'm running. hopefully i'll keep up my eating and running and be in even better shape whenever this race ends up happening.

perfect pushup

just 3 days til pasadena marathon. this is definitely the last marathon in my foreseeable future. i might concentrate on running half marathons next year. hopefully i really do free up some time in may so i can resume really training hard.

for now, i have the perfect pushup! anyone have it? its pretty awesome. besides using that, i'm trying to eat good this last week. i know its a bit late, but right now i feel like i'm lendale white running a marathon.

i'm also looking forward to finishing the semester. we have a month off of school until spring semester. my last break from school was last december so it'll be good to have no homework for a few weeks.

anyone in pasadena this weekend? let me know if you are interested in checking out the run. here's a link to the map for anyone interested.

weekender this weekend. beat the farm!
first off, good luck to you going forward broderick green. i truly hope you have more success than moody.

got this article from rich v. wow they are changing the la marathon drastically? running 26.2 miles in downtown los angeles in MAY? its sad to say but people will die. this is a very bad idea.

saw zack and miri makes a porno. it had its moments, a few lol's but nothing spectacular. i think darryl from the office stole the show (i have no idea what this dudes real name is).

happy bday claire! missi and i went to her birthday party and were overwhelmed by the amount of pregnant women and children. man 5 years ago we would be getting faded and throwing up. now we're getting thrown up on by little kids. i guess we're growing up.

6 days and counting til the pasadena marathon...just saw the elevation/course map. it'll be a b*tch.

change for the better?

ok warning political blog up ahead.

first off disclaimer: i voted for barrack obama and no on prop 8. but i don't consider myself a liberal. i'm more of a moderate if anything.

i was very excited to cast my vote for barrack obama for president b/c he is a leader of men and i think thats what the country needs right now. i think the us president is more figurehead than anything but i think he can be a very strong figurehead. i think john mccain is a great guy and only wish he had ran for president 8 years ago.

here's where the concern starts. people are expecting miracles. he's just a man people. yes he's a great speaker but poor people won't suddenly become rich, illegal aliens will not become citizens, and noone will begin to walk on water.

i'm worried that people voted the way they did b/c they thought what barrack was cooking a free ride.

i think that what barrack can do is provide avenues for change. but these changes will have to come from the people. for those sitting on their couch waiting for change to come to them, i think they'll be sorely dissapointed.

change is coming thats for sure. let's hope take action to ensure its change for the better. it'll be an interesting for years.

maybe i should stop with the politics. and stick to stuff i know. like picking up on chicks.

i'll post some pics from my bday here including all the cool costumes. had a good time at busbys in santa monica with kevin, tony, and s.o.'s. it was a good thing i ran 11 miles that morning b/c i felt like crap after all the jager bombs and benitos.

saturday was homecoming and i was able to avoid alcohol altogether that day.

sunday just spent with my fam and watching football. sorta bummed about the bcs and fantasy this weekend but i'll survive.

hope everyone voted or plans to. i got my sticker already!

happy belated half bday missi!
