i loved the dark knight. replacing katie holmes with maggie gylenhall was a great move. heath ledger was as advertised. and i thought aaron eckhart was very good as twoface. all in all, the performances were spot on and it didnt feel comic bookie at all.

two negatives (although slight) for me were: a) its very long. 2.5 hours is a long time for a movie. just when i thought it was over...there was more. b) i have no idea how this got a pg-13. it was pretty crazy at times and should have gotten a rated r.

but yeah, great movie, i still want to check it out on imax if possible.

just a few more days til india...

burned

here's a physical update on how i'm doing:

-i'm sunburnt from going to the huntington beach (which just happened to host the us open of surfing that day) with missi on saturday.
-i tweaked my ankle while running on the trails last night. it should be ok to go but its a bit swollen.
-i'm growing out my hair. the last time i combed my hair was probably 1999 or 2000. i don't even own hair products or a comb.
-the master cleanse really did do a good job kicking off my diet.

commitment issues

i guess its lofty expectations. or just restlessness. or just inability to "settle down". whatever it is, for the past couple of years, i've been unable to stay with anyone for over a year. and did i mention that its always a black guy?

on that note, seeya vince young. the nerds have a new qb. welcome to the team donovan mcnabb!

missi and i went to see wicked at the pantages. it was really good. i don't think i'm qualified to give a full on review though. my background in theatre is lacking. for me its just "really good" or "sucked". and to me wicked fell in the "really good" category.

ok didnt last long on the master cleanse. 8 days last time...just 2 days this time. i'm trying to make it count though and eat well/continue to work out.

gonna check out wicked tonight with missi. while everyones watching batman i'll be watching wicked. talk about counterprogramming.

hmm i think i'm gonna have a salad for dinner. if u don't appreciate salads and soups, then the master cleanse is def for you!

whole foods

i called tiago last night and told him i was going to whole foods. he immediately responded, "master cleanse?". yup, he guessed right.

i dont know how long i'll last doing this. my goal is to just get through 2 days and use it to sort of kick off a diet. when you are doing this, soups and salads sound so good.

but i know a few days will be good for me, esp after the food/drink i had up north this past weekend.

grading 2.0

if u have an iphone, get the 2.0 software release. also make sure to upgrade your itunes to access the app store. i haven't purchased any apps yet but have downloaded many free ones.

things to note:
i've downloaded approx 20 free apps.. the 20 apps only are taking up about half a gig total.

the best freeapps? phonesaber (your very own virtual lightsaber), tiptap (ddr type game), and baseball (this is a baseball reference that includes player stats by year and team!) if you have any other new apps to recommed, let me know.

other things that are great are the bulk delete function in email and microsoft exchange support (something i'm in the process of configuring but will let u know how that goes).

problems? my phone has locked up on me for a minute or so from time to time but nothing critical.

overall, very happy with the experience. it really feels like i have a brand new phone. any questions, feel free to ask.

this is one app i must have for my iphone.

unfortunately i probably won't install apps and the 2.0 software until next week. i'll definitely write a review then. until then...usc football talk!

espn has us in two of the top 3 games in the pac 10 (i know i said us).
1. Ohio State at USC, Sept. 13: First, the college football nation thanks you, Trojans and Buckeyes, for having the courage to play this game. Just thinking about this should make your mouth water. The winner immediately becomes a leading national title contender, and the loser doesn't necessary fall out of the race. The defensive talent on both teams is just stunning, so the game might hinge on which QB better handles the pressure.

2. Oregon at USC, Oct. 4: Can the Ducks win two in a row vs. the Trojans and jump to the top of the Pac-10? Unlikely, particularly on the road. But Oregon figures to offer USC a legitimate challenge. And it's sort of fun how Pete Carroll and Mike Bellotti appear to have a prickly relationship.

and it has us number 1 in the pac 10. and ucla 8th!

windows sp3 is now being pushed out. its not a really sexy update.

in more exciting news, the app store is now on itunes! and tomorrow the iphone 2.0 software is released! hopefully i get everything on my phone before my trip up north. but i won't get too crazy paying for applications just yet.

thinking about going back on the master cleanse. anyone do it recently? anyone interested in doing it? i've just been eating way too much fast food lately.

suicide bridge

happy (belated) 4th of july everyone! i have a midterm tonight so i couldn't really go too crazy this weekend. i was stuck indoors studying most of the time. not so exciting. on the 4th, missi and i caught fireworks in pasadena. we were on the colorado street bridge (better known by some people as suicide bridge) where we were able to see fireworks from south pas and the rose bowl. cool stuff.

this weekend missi and i are going up north. luckily kev and kristine are going with us. it'll help ease the pain of gas prices.

the other great thing about this weekend is that they were playing star wars all weekend on spike tv. empire strikes back never gets old.

crab pot

happy belated blau! we went to the crab pot for brians birthday. normally i'm not a big crab/shrimp person but i think i like this place just cuz they just dump everything on your table and you get to eat with your hands. definitely my sort of place.

watched the manny p fight. manny looked like he ran a mile on the treadmill after the fight. diaz looked like he got hit by a bus.

baron davis to the clips!
