June 2008 Archives

i hate to say i told you so but...
davon jefferson, i told you so.

now instead of living the good life hanging out with mark sanchez and the usc song girls at chanos....you'll be playing at sioux city or grand rapids in the cba. good luck with that, devean george 2.0.

the nba draft could even be more exciting though. my ideas?

a) make it 3 rounds. ok the 3rd rounders probably won't make the league but its another round to nitpick and dissect.

b) make it on the weekend like the nfl draft.

took my dad out for fathers day last night to mortons. we had this deal. pretty good stuff.
i'm speechless

hulk smash

when i think of the incredible hulk, i'll always think of lou ferigno and bill bixby. bill bixby, rip. i'm sure he would have liked to cameo in the new flick as well.

i liked the new hulk movie. like iron man, my favorite parts were the non-cgi parts.

anyone gonna watch the new "clone wars" movie?
pasadena marathon map released.

"The course will take participants by the Rose Bowl, the Colorado Bridge, City Hall, Cal Tech, the Tournament of Roses House"

anyone interested in running this? i'm always looking for people to train with.

some tech dates i'm looking forward to? new upgrade for my blog software should get released later this month. and the iphone software 2.0 upgrade drops on july 11th. and yes, this is on my calendar.

bluetooth

one thing i've noticed while working on the new site (by sorting everything into categories, reindexing, etc) is that i write/comment alot about sports.

well todays as good a day as any to ignore sports altogether.

july 1st is the first day of the no cell phone use while driving law.  i'm looking at getting a bluetooth.  any particular model that anyone can recommend?

i was once totally anti-bluetooth. i still don't plan to use it as a fashion accesory. i'll limit it to in the car use only.

Hi Everyone. Missi here. Burgs has been busy lately so I'm going to keep you posted on what he's been up to.

  • Grad school. Lots of homework, exams, projects, meetings, and commuting.
  • New job. Well, sort of.
  • Marathon Training. Yep, another one in the fall! Wish him luck.
  • Wedding Plans. Meetings, discussions, questions, emails, payments, and just listening to me babble.
  • Fantasy Football. Yes, I know how much of a fan he is. And I know that he won't give this up when we get married or when we begin a family. It makes him happy so I'm ok with that.
  • Lakers vs. Celtics. You all know who he's rooting for.

tri tip

happy fathers day everyone, especially angel (my dad).

the lakers will win today. they have to. vegas thinks they'll win. vegas can't be wrong again, can they?

just upgraded my blog software to movabletype 4.1 (from 3.2). this should be definitely a better system with way more features in the long run and easier to manage (which is key). for now, its kinda buggy so sorry.

one improvement is the commenting system. comments will automatically be published, but you'll have to sign in to a service called "typekey" to verify that you aren't spam.

back to work

"How do we get over this? A lot of wine and beer. A couple of shots, like 20 of them. Digest it and then get back to work tomorrow. "
Great article on some of the psychology behind facebook. don't let them manipulate your shit.

game 4 tonight, should be a good one. its hard to read bill simmons right now since he's such a boston homer. but he said something i have to agree with regarding laker flags:
"You'll notice an inordinate amount of Lakers flags flying from cars when you're driving to the game. (Well, cars worth less than 30 grand. I am still waiting to see my first Lexus or Bentley with a Lakers flag.)"

went to ruths chris yesterday. i like it, although i think its a bit overpriced. anyways, we had this deal last night which was pretty sweet.

and in other iphone news...the more i read about it, the more i think i'll just keep my current iphone. although the price looks great...the monthly data plan increases by 10 dollars. thats 120 a year, or 240 over 2 years. i don't think the 3g is worth that additional cost for me right now.

there are some great applications though. check out this link. lucky i have some itunes credit!

iphone 3g

wow, i'm sure most of you saw the iphone 3g release. i want one. i'll probably sell my current iphone for 50 bucks and upgrade. if anyones interested.

here's my horoscope for today. i found it quite fitting.

"You know that you're not rejecting anyone in particular; you just need time by yourself. Unfortunately others may still feel slighted, but don't waste energy trying to mend everyone's feelings. Endless talk will only make matters worse. Do what feels right and let the events take their own course."

pbr

fri night, went to the shortstop followed by the dodger game. nothing beats 2 dollar pbr (well except 1 dollar pbr).

great game, kuroda pitched a shutout. i never knew that there were so many hispanic cubs fans. go figure.

played poker with my old coworkers last night. won 40 bucks.

what did game 2 teach me?

that the lakers definitely aren't taking it in 5.
1) you can't hold paul pierce down. the man has been stabbed. he's like jason from friday the 13th. i remember during the game, someone scratched him and he got all pissed. why would he be pissed after getting scratched? he's been stabbed before. stabbed. like with a knife.

2) this is not a good series for the lakers white small forwards. they'll need trevor ariza in there. walton and radmanovic were struggling to match up.

3) doc rivers, whats up with, "what did that south african guy say". umm, nelson mandela? phil jackson will employ his jedi mind tricks and probably cause rivers to jump into the sarlacc pit.

4) kobe was feeling it out. it was funny though when boston was chanting "no means no". i would be too scared to cheer against kobe.

all in all, the loss didn't surprise me. still think lakers take it in 5. going to the dodgers game vs the cubs tonight. should be fun.

intervention

i have a new favorite show on tv. intervention on a&e. have u seen it? its a trainwreck, but a smart trainwreck. its no flava of love 3 or beauty and the geek.

went to taco tuesday at fred's in pasadena yesterday. fred's is the old moose's. although its the same ownership, def not as cool as moose's. 2 dollar tacos is a sweet deal though.

cool, just looked ahead at sc's fall schedule. homecoming falls on my bday this year!
just finished the rock n roll marathon in sd. "ran" 26.2 miles in 4:00:59. I put ran in parentheses since I did quite a bit of walking. all in all, i'm happy with my time all things considering how little training i did.

all in all, i'm a bit sunburnt, really sore but feeling ok. i really hopes this propels me for some serious training. now its just a matter of finding time. thats the hard part. anyone interested in running the pasadena marathon this fall?

game 1 this week. celtics have home court but i think lakers take it in 5. i really think utah or san antonio would beat the celtics in a 7 game series right now.
