social ramifications of a male birth control pill

so i was thinking about it...if i ever want to get a huge book deal from my work on burgs.net, i'll have to write more than just, "today i went to home depot. then ate dinner at the sizzler. then went christmas shopping at toys r us."

as exciting as that is for me, i doubt thats the stuff that will engage millions. so i'm gonna start writing some more serious blogs. just my take on certain things. agree, disagree, or just to discuss. would love to know your opinion. and don't worry, you'll still get all the 411 on my trips to sizzler.

read this and it got me thinking..."how will this affect society"? will it even work? will men reclaim power when it comes to the whole birth control issue?

first of all, will it even work? lets assume that this male pill works like the female equivalent. a man remembering to take this pill every day? if you are like me, you probably consider it an accomplishment to remember to put on your pants every morning.

imagine meeting a hot chick at a club (for those of you who have seen it, i'm getting images of seth rogans encounter with katherine heigl in knocked up). so you are spitting game, she is digging your hair...back to her place. when she goes, "do u have a condom?" your retort is, "oh we don't need one, i'm on the male pill." HOW AWESOME WOULD THAT BE!

currently birth control is a responsibility/power on the side of women for the most part. yeah there are condoms. but the responsibility of going to doctors, getting prescribed for, paying for, and taking pills is all on the womens end.

but with that responsibility comes power. how many times have you heard of a couple getting "pregnant" while on the pill. the pregnancy rate is 1 per 1000 (.1%) for women who regularly take the pill! so with this male pill, guys will actually have a say in the prevention shotgun pregnancies and/or "keepanigga" babies (quoted from eddie griffin from his fine work on chronic 2000).

so there you go. even if you aren't mystery or matador, this pill will be revolutionary for men. i'm telling you, i think it'll have a huge affect on society. its been said that the original pill had a huge impact on social behavior by scientists and i think this can have the same (or greater) effect. just don't be lazy and ignore it. just think about it for a second. men will actually control the rate of reproduction. thats huge.

and think about what girls will think. about how sensitive you are for actually caring about the process and willing to help out in the whole birth control process.. chicks eat that stuff up. trust me, i've seen it on tv.

thats all i got. comments are appreciated (especially counterpoints...like if u think male birth control is a bad idea). will edit/add as i find anything else that can add to the topic.

I like the direction burgs.net is going in. While complete in covering everything from Sizzler to SC, the fact that burgs.net is tackling society's tough questions is friggen sweet.

The male birth control pill is awesome but I think it will increase promiscuity. Of course there will be an adjustment period and yes, it will be weird if she asks you if you're on the pill... but I dig the fact that pregnancy is now a shared responsibility instead of putting it all on the her. So no more worrying about crazy chicks saying they're on the pill and they're not. You got that taken care of!

awesome, glad you liked it tones. quick question though, why do u think it would increase promiscuity?

anyways i was thinking about it and i decided i would write serious once a week, maybe like thursdays or something.

I think it would increase promiscuity because it takes the issue of trust away. You may not trust the seemingly non-crazy chick who says she's on pill (but is really not) but since you know you're on the man-pill the question of whether you should do it or not is answered for you.
